From the looks of their clothing, it must have been cold in the Desert as the Old Miner and friend were on their way to somewhere. Actually, these two were in "The Nevada Day Parade," in Carson City a year or 2 ago. I started to paint them in the parade setting with happy colors and fireworks. Sometime later, I found I had put them lumbering along in the Desert. I didn't even give them a bird for company, but I think they are happy right where they are.

Thank you, so very much Jan. When I was a little girl, we had an old Jenny donkey who love for my sister and 2 cousins to climb up on her back. Then she would put her head down so we could slide down her neck to the ground. We would just be out in the field with her, loose, and she always came to us. She looked just about like this one.
