Description
We stepped outside to see if it was snowing and this is what we saw. We live in the high Desert, a bit below 5000 feet and 5000 to 7000 feet below the high mountains and the ski Slopes. Snow is still a treat for us and not the problem it can be at higher levels. So usually we are looking for snow at Christmas. Sometimes we get a little more then we were looking for but not often. This year could be an exception! Photo by Phyllis Kaltenbach. Peacock as an Ancient Christian Symbol of Eternal Life
by Dr. Ralph F. Wilson
Christians adopted the symbol of the peacock to represent immortality. This came from an ancient legend that the flesh of the peacock did not decay. It is also associated with the resurrection of Christ because it sheds it old feathers every year and grows, newer, brighter ones each year. If the peacock is portrayed drinking from a vase it symbolizes a christian drinking the waters of eternal life. In addition the " multitude of eyes" upon its stunningly beautiful fan tail, suggested the all seeing eye of God.***

A beautiful and unusual Christmas decoration, Phyllis! I enjoyed reading your description; you had more snow where you live than we got this Christmas. Happy New Year! L&F
Phyllis Kaltenbach replied:
Hi Doug. We are more often in a drought then not! But this is proving to be a very wet year for us. The weather just seems to be crazy everywhere. Our second snow is still on the ground. It is rare that it has not been warm enough for it all to melt. Thank you for your lovely comment on our Peacock decoration.
Steve Taylor

Beautiful image Phyllis, I hope you get lots of snow to help with the snow pack!...F/L
Phyllis Kaltenbach replied:
Thank you, so very much, Donna! It has rained most of the morning, today and the snow is supposed to start sometime this afternoon. It is supposed to be a pretty big storm - but the lights are still on the tree and bushes outside. 😄
