Description
The tiny black, wild pig found himself alone in the world on a 2500 acre foothill ranch in central California. One day he met a little black calf who lived on the ranch and they became friends. The tiny Pig stayed with black calf and was soon adopted by the whole herd of 18 black cows who were fed daily by the cowboy. Soon the cowboy was talking about "his" little black pig. The people who own the ranch go up often to make sure everything is in good shape at the ranch. (Now, there are wild pigs, that are often a nuisance to the Ranchers but when people go near them they run away.) While the people were touring all of the ranch, they were surprised the see the little black pig with the calf. Cattle, being the curious animals that they are, would come up to see the Ranch people and the people were amazed to see the calf and the little wild pig walking right up to them, as though they were guarding the calf's Momma and the rest of the herd of cows. The pig kept getting closer and closer to them and they took photos of the pig and and the calf together, with Mama cow lounging under the Big Blue Oak tree guarding her "babies" and the rest of the herd, not far away, seeming to guard the calf and the pig. But, Somehow the people had the feeling that the calf and pig were guarding the herd! True Story and by Painting by Phyllis Kaltenbach
