Description
Fiji has a story to tell. i took this photo of Fiji with a 110 film camera in 1980. Her story follows. This is with a hope that it will help children everywhere to understand and love our bewitching feline friends:
Fiji is thinking: OH, it is very difficult to be as intelligent as I am and understand things so well and to, still, not be able to talk. I am a sensitive and lovely Siamese Cat, I understand everything people tell me, I see many things and I have travelled a lot! I have so many things that I could share with you and I can only say "Meow"! But then, I am only 5 1/2 years old (that is only about 35years, in cat years so maybe I will learn to talk yet! After all, Mom (that is Phyllis) understands me completely.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself: I was born in Carson City. That is the capital of Nevada, you know. When I was a tiny kitten, "Mom" came over to our house one day to see my brothers and sisters and me. The people, there, told her that we were 6 weeks old which is when we can be taken away from our soft, furry kitty mother. But "MOM, (Phyllis) thinks we must have been much younger. All of my brothers and sisters were bigger then me and I was so frightened by the commotion, that I ran into another room and hid. But "Mom" knew, right away, that I was the smartest one and she found me and took me home to Gardnerville. That is in Nevada too.
"Mom," did everything she could to make me comfortable that night. She put me in a small cosy room with a hot water bottle and food. But having just left my furry Mother, I was frightened and hungry. Pretty soon "Dad Bruce" (he could hear then) couldn't stand that I was all alone, so he got out of bed and came and got me and put me into bed with them. They sleep in a great big bed! "Mom" was afraid Dad would roll over on me so she let me sleep next to her tummy and her nice soft nightgown. It was so nice and warm and soft and I wasn't afraid any more. I got to sleep in their big bed every night after that.
I wasn't very old when Mom and Dad received word they they were going to work that big state of Washington, 1980. That was the year that that big mountain, Mt. St. Helens, blew her top off. Since they had to go to work I had to go along with them and ride in the big yellow and white pick-up and sleep in that big old 5th Wheel! I got to sleep in that bed too, but it was a smaller bed! They had to teach me to walk, with Dad, on a leash and they let me stay outside with them sometimes. When "Mom" tried to take me for a walk on the leash, I would just lie down on her feet! ;-) I was learning many things and I was still a kitten!

Phyllis dear, you definitely earn two big gold medals for this work, one for the kitty and the other for such wonderful story telling. Fiji has the most beautiful blue eyes....sweet work l.v.f.
Phyllis Kaltenbach replied:
She was a wonderful kitty Dave. Our first Siamese, Tascha lived to be 20 years old. Fiji was our second Siamese and she live to be 20 years old also. They were both wonderful kitties! I appreciate the 2 gold medals very much!
