Description
Our beautiful Quail! This is one of what I believe is 3 generations of California Quail who visit us every morning around 10:00 and in the afternoon about 4 or 5:00 There are usually 7 or 8 of them who walk the fence in our back yard and often jump, back and forth from the big Pine tree behind us, to our fence. This past week they were walking in the snow on top of the fence. It had melted by the time I caught the photo. I say caught because they move so fast that they are often a blur, or at least they're heads are. I love it when I get a picture like this. There were five of them together, this morning but it is almost impossible to get a clear image of all five. The FAA Watermark will never show on any of your beautifullu finished works of Art that you may wish to purchase! ***

California Valley Quail Facts
Known for their hardiness and adaptability, the native California Quail is a plump bird, smaller than a pigeon, with a distinctive black plume on its head and a black bib with a white stripe under its beak. Other common names: California partridge, Catalina quail, Topknot quail and Valley Quail.
Coveys number from a few up to 200 in the fall and winter months, but in the spring they break into pairs. California Quail nest in hollows scratched in the ground and concealed by foliage, females lay 6 to 28 eggs - creamy white thickly spotted with golden brown.

Hi Cindy, Thank you very much! Yes. This is a Grand Pa, Grandma will be the same size. Then there are Mom and Dad full grown and trim. as far as I can figure out. Then, babies are small and run very fast to keep up with everybody else! Smiles!

Your so lucky to have them, nice image of a unique bird.
Phyllis Kaltenbach replied:
Yes we are! We enjoy them every day, anywhere from 1 or 2, to several. They walk our fence and fly in and out of the trees. Stand on the fence and "Talk" to me. Thank you, Skip! Smiles!
